Travon's is in the double digits now!
In Harford County, Maryland, Travon celebrated his 10th birthday and is the 830th child to receive a birthday present from Casey Cares in 2022.
Casey Cares knows that for a critically ill child, each birthday is a special milestone celebrating life. For the children in our programs, it not only marks another year, but it also demonstrates a great achievement. Every year, Casey Cares staff and volunteers work hard to send out each of our kids a special birthday package through our Birthday Blast program - there's over 1,000 that we send! This simple act of kindness delivers joy and hope to our kids who are undergoing treatment.
Travon was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, where parts of the left side of his heart did not develop completely, and he joined Casey Cares in 2018.
Thanks to Casey Cares and their generous donors and sponsors, Travon, his parents, and his two siblings have loved a special movie night with tickets to Horizon Cinemas, visiting the Maryland Zoo, a trip to the interactive exhibits of Port Discovery, and is a regular at Casey Cares' Charm City Trivia Nights. Travon loves anything sports-related and his favorite activity thanks to Casey Cares has been when he goes to Orioles games.
Tasani, his mother, says that Travon is excited to get to be 10 and "is a fun, sweet-loving boy."
Parents, guardians, and caregivers of critically ill children know that the COVID-19 pandemic made it extremely difficult for families to have fun when there were increased vulnerabilities to compromised immune systems. She notes that it has "been a tough two years with COVID and staying safe."
Tasani, who heard about Casey Cares from their social worker at Johns Hopkins Hospital, says that she "really appreciates Casey Cares for giving us opportunities that are great!"
