Happy 17th birthday Parvaneh!
Parvaneh in Pennsylvania celebrated her 17th birthday and Casey Cares' 831st birthday in 2022!
Casey Cares understands that for a critically ill child, each birthday is a special milestone celebrating life. For the children in our programs, it marks another year and it also demonstrates a great achievement! Every year, Casey Cares staff and volunteers work hard to send out each of our kids a special birthday surprise through our Birthday Blast program - there's over 1,000 packages that we send! This simple act of kindness delivers joy and hope to our kids who are undergoing stressful treatment.
Smiles For Days
Known to her family as "Nay Nay," is a smiley girl who is diagnosed with Rett Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects brain development and has rendered her nonverbal.
Deidre, her mother, says that Nay Nay was adopted when she was 10 and uses her expressions and eye-gaze device to communicate with others. Deidre says that she "is pretty funny with it!"
Nay Nay and her family joined Casey Cares in 2018. The family has enjoyed visiting the Maryland Zoo, saw the cool stunts at Monster Jam Philadelphia, attended a Philadelphia Union game, received at-home Movie & PJ nights, saw how to make ice cream at Turkey Hill Experience, and visited the dinos at Jurassic Quest.
Practice your best version of "Let It Go!" because Nay Nay's favorite movie is Frozen. So far, Nay Nay's favorite activity she completed with Casey Cares was going to Trolls Live! at Hershey Park Arena because of the songs and bright colors!
“Our birthday program is especially important to us because we know how critical each birthday is to children who are fighting for their lives every day,” said Casey Cares founder and executive director Casey Baynes. Since Casey Cares began counting in 2001, Casey Cares has given close to 10,000 birthday packages to our kiddos!
