When a special request from Sophia's aunt came in, Casey Cares came to help bring lasting memories to her!
Sophia has had 6 brain surgeries and needed her seventh one towards the end of June. Her aunt, Jessica, reached out to Casey Cares to see if we could provide a break at Hershey Park and have some fun before Sophia's painful procedure.
While Casey Cares no longer implements its Celebration Vacation program, thanks to outside donations from caring supporters and an amazingly generous hotel donation from Julia Arfaa and Dan Murtaugh, Sophia, was able to have a special day with family at Hershey Park! The 7-year-old is currently recovering in the ICU after the completion of her surgery.
The family's letter below:
"The trip to Hershey was wonderful! We started big with Tidal Force and then spent a lot of time in the lazy river. Sophia had been looking forward to the lazy river the most and loved it!!! Sophia’s brother and I had a debate about who was the most excited about the trip. He finally won the debate by saying 'I’m a kid and I’ve never been there so I win!' Sophia kept signing for me to play the video clips of Hershey Park. We watched them repeatedly the entire week before the trip. I can’t thank Casey Cares and its generous donors enough for providing our first family vacation. Sophia was able to just be a kid and enjoy life in such a magical place before undergoing such a difficult surgery. It means the world to all of us. Thank you for caring and allowing Sophia to enjoy such an amazing experience. It will not be forgotten and we will forever be grateful. Blessings to everyone involved with making this happen."
With love and appreciation,
Sophia and family
