Five Casey Cares families were treated to a lunch and skate with The Washington Capitals Saturday, November 11 at Medstar Capitals Iceplex. The event was part of the team's Hockey Fights Cancer campaign.
Other beneficiaries included kids from Flashes of Hope, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Pancan and Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic as well as employees of Leidos, a generous Hockey Fights Cancer supporter.
The families watched the team practice while they ate lunch and then skated with some players and Slapshot.
"This event was a way for us to give more than just money to organizations by providing those who are battling or have battled cancer and their families an afternoon where they didn’t have to worry about cancer but could just be in the moment and have a fun time," said Community Relations Coordinator Heidi Hafker.
